Fall Winter
Fruits
Fall + Winter Fruits +
Vegetables !!!
Apples:
(Mid-September --- May)
From Nesbitt’s Farm in Orleans County we are able to offer
outstanding apples.
We start the
season with a strain of McIntosh called
Red Max. Unexplainably it has a flavor that’s just a little better
than most of the other strains of Mac’s.
Next it’s the Empire
apple, a cross between a Red Delicious and the
McIntosh, it’s a New York
state original, we start offering these near the Thanksgiving Holiday.
Both are very
versatile (good for eating and cooking).
In January we
offer apples that come from controlled atmosphere storage typically
called
CA
storage. This type of storage keeps the apple near tree fresh.
Potatoes:
(Mid-September --- March)
From “Aldinger Farms”
in Erie County.
We start with some
early season potatoes. The season continues with a new winter variety
called Eva. The Eva is an all purpose white potato that
has a very smooth thin skin, keeps well, and for table use, has
an exceptionally good flavor.
